Julia Spiess, Vice President

Julia SpiessJulia is an accomplished issues management specialist. She’s a reporter by training and served on the staff of a state lawmaker prior to joining Perry Communications Group in 2001. Julia brings a powerful mix of skills that drive smart strategy and seamless project implementation.

She currently leads the community relations efforts for a power company working to site a 70 megawatt wind park in Northern California. For many years, Julia has served as the media strategist for the California State Parks Foundation’s (CSPF) nationally-recognized “Save Our State Parks Campaign,” which has generated unprecedented media attention to the threatened park closures statewide and put public pressure on the Governor to protect parks.

Julia serves as a senior advisor to numerous consumer advocacy groups and is an expert on communications measurement, including providing client counsel on how to quantify the impact and value of issues campaigns.

Julia earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in News Ed and a minor in political science from California State University, Chico. Currently, she serves on the board of California Women Lead’s Sacramento Chapter, a nonpartisan organization that encourages women to be political leaders. Previously, Julia held board positions with the International Association of Business Communicators, Sacramento for four terms, which included two as board president.

When not in the office, Julia is headed for the hills – either packing in Sierra’s backcountry or hitting Tahoe’s ski slopes.
