California Retired Teachers Association Continues Positive Advertising Campaign in Support of Prop 30

Posted by Kassy Perry

SACRAMENTO – While the recent news stories about Prop 30 have been about the negative turn the advertising has taken, the California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) launched its print ads in five major daily papers across the state. The ads are part of the organization’s first-ever independent expenditure campaign in support of Proposition 30, the temporary tax for education, on November’s ballot. The campaign released a radio ad on September 24th and a television ad on October 8th.

“Our print ads complement our broadcast campaign ads by continuing to tell the story of teachers who never give up on the importance of education for their students, even after they’ve retired,” CalRTA President Joe Dion said. “With all the negative campaign ads bombarding voters in the next three weeks, we think our efforts stand out because they are genuine, speak to the issue and are positive messages about the importance of Prop 30.”

The print ad will appear in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Sacramento Bee, the Orange County Register, and The Fresno Bee.

“We’re running this political campaign, the first one in our 83-year history, while honoring the organization’s nonpartisan mission,” Dion said. “And our ads reflect the reality of our members’ lifetime commitment to the success of public education and students in California.”
