The California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology is set to host a Rural Healthcare Symposium on Wednesday in Sacramento. The event focuses on strategies to strengthen health equity in underserved areas.

Participants can attend the symposium in person or virtually. The agenda includes an overview of HR1 and the state of rural health, addressing obstacles and solutions for rural facilities, updates from legislators on current initiatives and more.

Elizabeth Bamgbose, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, joined KCRA 3 on Tuesday to discuss the event.

“We wanted to come together with regulators, legislators and the community to take a much deeper dive into what’s happening in rural healthcare, how we can achieve overcoming some of our challenges, and what are some possible solutions that maybe we’re not thinking of,” Bamgbose said.

“Our main wish is to really work with the community at large and look at what we can do to put our heads together and make sure that Californians are taken care of,” Bamgbose said.
