New writing service caters to growing communications demand

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (February 18, 2014)– Perry Communications Group (PCG), a Sacramento-based strategic communications firm, today announced the addition of Counter|Point, a new writing service for clients. The new service will enhance PCG’s current comprehensive approach to communications by offering an à la carte, specialized menu of writing services.

“Counter|Point takes our writing expertise and offers it to those looking to augment their services on a need by need basis,” said Kassy Perry, president and CEO of Perry Communications Group. “Even in a world where some mediums are limited to 140 characters, crafting a high-quality written piece remains vital. What we have found is that many communications departments, trade associations or agencies just don’t have the time or staff to write important editorial content. That is where Counter|Point comes in.”

Several local advertising experts said that while California Sun may not have set out to create a controversy, the flap and resulting media coverage is worth far more than the cost of running the outdoor print ad.

“There is nothing like a good controversy to increase the value of an advertizing campaign,” said Kassy Perry, owner of Sacramento’s Perry Communications.

Capitol Morning Report Features The Perry Girls’ Extracurricular Activities

Keeping Up with Kassy Perry

Kassy Perry, President/CEO of Perry Communications, Inc., says the riding lessons she has provided her daughters Morgan and Kaitlin brought an unexpected reward last week: Kaitlin was granted a near full-ride scholarship to Texas Christian University to join its NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Team. Perry, herself an equestrian, says training for horse competitions has taught her, and her girls, many lessons over the years about the merits of teamwork, hard work, calculating risks and taking responsibility for something other than oneself (namely, the horse). Training and competing also stress the need to stay focused in the moment. Perry, who has ridden competitively since her childhood, learned the importance of focus on Memorial Day weekend 2005 when she lost focus for a split second while training on her horse. The horse threw her and Perry broke a vertabrae in her back. Before going into surgery, she was told she might not walk again, but a successful operation and rehab brought Perry back to walking -and of course – riding competitively again with her daughters. As cliché as it sounds, the mishap was one of the best things that ever happened to her, she says. “You focus on the positive things and you realize how important the moment is,” says Perry. Perry is now facing a new challenge come fall – the empty nest. Kaitlin will be a freshman at TCU and her older daughter Morgan will be finishing her undergraduate degree in Agribusiness at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

92. Kassy Perry
Kassy Perry’s communications firm – she’s not a lobbyist – specializes in health issues, and her role is likely to expand as some version of health care reform takes root in California. She represents myriad companies and groups such as Aetna U.S. Healthcare, PhRMA, MAXIMUS, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Merck, who are deeply interested in California’s health reform issues. In 2008, in something of a departure for Perry, she was called in to try and salvage the sputtering No on Prop. 8 campaign.
