California Can Implement Rebate Reform to Lower Prescription Costs for Patients

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Le Ondra Clark Harvey, Executive Director of the California Access Coalition issued the following statement in response to West Virginia Governor Jim Justice signing House Bill 2263 into law, which will share 100% of negotiated rebates with patients at the point-of-sale:

“We applaud West Virginia Governor Jim Justice and the state legislature for passing HB 2263. This is a remarkable step forward in medication accessibility, affordability, and adherence for patients living with chronic conditions in West Virginia. Now it is time for California to follow suit in passing AB 933 by Assemblymember Tom Daly, which will reform our state’s broken prescription drug rebate system in order to pass 90% of negotiated rebates to patients at the pharmacy counter.

If other states can implement rebate reform, then so can we. Patients deserve to see lower medication costs at the pharmacy, and the Golden State can make that happen through AB 933.”
